The ‘5 How’s of Strategy’

If you can answer these five questions you will go a long way towards a clear strategy. Try them out as a basis for discussion with your management team.

  1. HOW will you satisfy customer needs?
  2. HOW will you leverage your core (and new) capabilities and resources?
  3. HOW do you match 1 with 2 above and compete? (what’s your offer and USP?)
  4. HOW will you make a profit? (ROI)
  5. HOW will you sustain profit? (why would someone invest in you?)
